I tried an older version, 4.10.60 in case the current one on the website 5.00.20wp developed a glitch. the garmin mobile xt software is almost identical, and it does offer offroad routing. has always worked perfectly for offroad riding with the garmin topo maps. after importing, i get the choices of recalculating the route as faster, shorter or offroad.
I've been using the car-based gps, a nuvi 1490t to do this for the past year.
any garmin mobile xt users got an answer? i'm wondering if this is a software glitch in the latest version garmin has on their website, and i need to find an older version? any help appreciated!Įdit: it is garmin mobile xt version 5.00.20wp I've tried all sorts of combinations of settings, googled everywhere to see if others had this problem, with no luck. i choose yes, but it then only shows as one short straight line, the rest of the route is missing! i found if i backtrack into the tools section and choose "off road" again under preferences, it will then ask if i want to recalculate the current track as off road. Manage my data / routes / view routes / "offroad test file" / edit / route preferenceīut the only route preferences is shows are "faster time" and "shorter distance".
okay, so i try to edit the file (called offroad test file) as below: I've selected "off road" on the menu ( tools / settings / routing / route preference ).īut any imported off road route is automatically recalculated to follow roads instead. i can transfer the file (done in "direct routing" in mapsource) to the phone and it does show on the screen. i know my way around garmin software and gps units, been using them for a few years now.īut i cant get it to correctly calculate an offroad route. Downloaded garmin mobile XT from the garmin site and installed successfully on a samsung i900 smartphone, running garmin topo maps and windows CE 6.1 operating system.
